Moving forward would there be any plans to support rollout of web applications in the form of Progressive Web Apps

This allows no installation, fast web applications, service worker, greater productivity and SEO.

Hi Paul,

Very interesting idea. Would you care to drill down on what type of use cases/apps you would be interested in using PWA?

Isn't this something you can already build now?

I see a strong drive from google and although its not supported in IOS yet. And with web assembly picking up we will have a really strong competitor for mobile native apps .

It would be interesting if outsystems provides a good integration with service workers and manifests for better mobile web apps.

I keep hearing about single page apps and progressive web apps from customers and prospects. Further there is mention of this on various analyst roadmaps.

There is a huge "ASK" from customers who are already on OutSystems platform to move towards PWA.

Hopefully OutSystems addresses and caters to this emerging need in the near future.

Do we have PWA support today in outsystems?

Great to see this idea logged! Indications are that PWA's will become more & more popular with Google & Microsoft pushing this. There are obvious benefits not having to go through the pains of publishing mobile apps to the stores, and expecting users to download another app onto their devices. Kony recently released the capability to generate PWA's. I have a current requirement for an offline web app, and prefer to use OutSystems. How far has this progressed? Any way to create a progressive web app with OutSystems today?

Have we any news on this?

Nice. I'm sure we can expect an announcement on Next-Step together with the ReactJS for Web :)

Do we have any ways to develop a PWA using OutSystems 11?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Paul,

The Engineering Team is already working on Progressive Web Apps, so I set the status to “Working on it”. We expect it to be ready during Q1 2020. We’ll post an update once it’s released.

Thanks again for your great idea!
