Add support for Extended Dynamic SQL in iDB2 Database connection for better SQL performance

By Theo Kusters on 4 Jan

Currently the Database connection of type iDB2 uses ADO.Net, therefore there’s no support for extended dynamic SQL. This makes it impossible to use SQL packages as a caching mechanism on the server. Please investigate an alternative connection method that supports Extended dynamic SQL.

See Integrating DB2 Universal Database for iSeries with Microsoft ADO .NET paragraph 4.2.4 Unsupported features:

  • SQL packages (extended dynamic): For SQL packages, use the System.Data.OleDb .NET provider to bridge to the IBMDASQL OLE DB provider included with iSeries Access for Windows, V5R3M0 and later; or use the Microsoft ODBC .NET provider to bridge to the iSeries Access for Windows ODBC driver.
