OS SQL Language Definitions for 3rd Party Editors

By erik berg on 25 Jan (4 weeks ago)

The OS SQL editor is not the best editor for complex SQL statements.  The OS variant of the SQL language makes it combersone to use alternative SQL editors as well.  It would be nice if OS published a language definition for OS SQL for popular alternative editors.

  • NotePad++

Hi Erik,

The OS SQL editor supports autocomplete from the data model, error checks and query testing, functionalities that you loose if using an external editor.

I would prefer to improve the OS editor with some functionalities of the popular alternative editors. Ffor example, I miss a simple find/replace, line numbering and a full screen mode.

What do you think?

Cheers,

Renato

I agree, the SQL editor should be improved (better support for aliases please!), but it's already pretty good. Also, SQL should be used as a last resort, otherwise Aggregates should be used. People complaining about the lack of decent SQL support in OutSystems are typically using SQL too much :).
