Service Center
OutSystems 7.0

It would be nice to have a mechanism to temporarily prevent access to an application in ServiceCenter, that would redirect all the users to a maintenance page.

Make it possible in ServiceCenter to take an eSpace offline.
Would be nice to have this option in the operations tab of an eSpace.

Take an eSpace offline should copy the app_offline.htm to the root of the application
Take an eSpace back online should remove the app_offline.htm from the root of the application

That way users can be notified when for instance maintenance is done on the database or other parts of the app.

You can actually do something very similar by using the "Disable eSpace" button.

Doesn't this meet your requirements?

If I disbale the eSpace I get an error message "There was an error processing your request. Please try again later..."

If the [disable] button would copy the app_offline.htm it would be great ! Then we can create a custom app_offline.hmt if we want to do some maintenance to the eSpace or temporarily want to take an eSpace off line.

Hi Joop

You can simply redefine the error handler to display a user-friendlier page, possibly better designed. It would not explicitly say that the app is offiline (simply indicate an internal error) but it would also be better to avoid disclosing to the audience that the app was explicitely offline?

Update: initial post wrongly stated 6.0.1. This capability will be delivered in 7.0.

Version7.0 will support the capability to "Take Offline" an espace, showing a pretty page to your end users.

Installed 6.0.1....

Unable to find option to direct user to maintenance page?
Same idea, already posted.

Is it for eSpace only? or will there be a mass select of eSpace to set all selected eSpaces to maintence mode? (since a solution can consist of more than 1 eSpace).

In v.7.0 you can Take an application offline. This will copy the offline page, which you can customize to your own image.
And yes, it takes all espaces inside that application offline, so that you don't have to go one by one...

Hi guys,

Nice feature, but how do I manage this page ?
I want to be able to give it the layout of the application instead of a out-of-the-box page

Hi,
The documentation for this feature is on the backlog of our documentation team. Meanwhile, here's a draft version that you can use.
