Submit to Personal Environment as Default

Collaboration
New

Hi,

On every project I've been on, I have been able to work solely out of my personal environment and deploy all my changes to the public (or next parent environment) when I want to. I would deploy to this environment after I complete a bug fix or add a new feature.

In an odd way, the convenience of True Change as a one click publish to the Public Area has not exactly helped in terms of Development. What I mean by this is that it is super convenient to make changes and click publish, however sometimes I am merely testing to get something to work through "trial and error". Therefore, it may take 3 or 4 tries to get something right and in that time, I have made 3 or 4 commits to the code. This could become problematic in trying to remember old version numbers in the event of reverting something to a previous state.

My proposal is that it would be nice to have the option of making the default environment, to push changes to, the personal area rather than the public area.

Obviously, there is a workaround or a fix to this and that is to press F6 or go to the Debugger tab and click "Run and Debug in the <eSpace workspace> Personal Area."

Just as a heads up, there's a big difference between a "Personal Area" and a "Personal Environment". A "Personal Environment" is a free server environment in the OutSystms cloud for personal/training/etc. use. The "Personal Area" is part of the debugging system, where your changes are deployed separately from the code that everyone else is working on in the same environment, so you can debug and troubleshoot without disturbing others.

Reading this was a bit confusing until I realized you were talking about the "Personal Area" and not the "Personal Environment". :)

Just as Justin, I was confused for a long time while reading this :) I would suggest you change the Idea title

Oh sorry for the confusion. I did mean to say deploy to Personal Area as default not the Personal Environment. Thank you for the feedback!
