Service Studio

Today is only possible to search an application by name. But would be nice to have some kind of filtering too. Today I missed a way of filtering by type (web, mobile, service). Also for example hide the applications that came from forge. But for sure there is a lot more filtering that we can use. Would be nice to discuss around this topic

And image to be clear the screen I'm talking about:

Changed the category to
Service Studio

I like the idea and I'd love to be able to create folders there as well.

Hi Folks,

I came up with an idea, It would be good to have filter option in service studio with mobile, web app and services.

This would help a web developer and at the same time mobile developer to choose its application by applying filter in service studio.

Yes it is. Right now it seems very weird when all the apps are displayed all together. Along with this, there should be a plugin filter or category as well. This will be very useful to identify Cordova or other plugins created for generic purpose.

@Lijo, Totally agree with you as we use lot of plugins now a days and managing them is a big hustle.

Merged this idea with 'Option for sorting the application by the type in service studio dashboard' (created on 17 Mar 2019 04:54:20 by Mohammad Hasib)

Hi,

I have lots of applications in development environment. All are sorting by its name.

Can you give the sorting on basis of type of the application.

Such as: All,Mobile,Web,Services

It will be easy to find the application.

That is available in forge.

Regards,

Hey Mohammad,

The way we are seeing and planning this, is having a quick filter in the Application List to filter the applications by their type (still keeping the same sorting).

You can find an existing community idea regarding this:
https://www.outsystems.com/ideas/6062/

Since you're referring the same scenario, can I merge both ideas?

Cheers,

Hi Vasco,

Yes you can merge the idea but i need to add one more point if possible:

Give the sorting option for last updated/Published application. So that user can know that who recently published which application.

Please make sure that i will get the point for this idea after merging it to another idea.

Regards

Hey Mohammad,

After merging the idea it is impossible to have it associated with 2 users, thus not being able to add the points. If you want you can still create another idea exclusively focused on the last updated/published application (something not mentioned initially in the idea).

Nevertheless, regarding this part of the idea don't Recent Modules help you on that?

I'll merge the idea but feel free to create a new one for that.

Cheers,

Merged this idea with 'Application Type Filter Icons in Service Studio - Next to Notifications Icon' (created on 13 May 2020 08:15:11 by assif_tiger)

Greetings Folks,

It would be an add-on to the service studio, having the 3 respective icons or a dropdown. Selecting which only the selected applications of that type should be shown in the service studio.

3 respective icons can be added next to the notification bell icon. OnClick on any respective will filter the below application & the selected type to be shown.

Merged this idea with 'Service Studio - Provision to filter applications by App Category in an environment' (created on 18 Dec 2020 11:49:44 by Shweta Gedam)

As now outsystems started providing 3 types of applications : Reactive, Mobile and Traditional.

It would be great if we have a filter in service studio's main window to filter the available app in the environment by App Category (Reactive, Mobile, Traditional web) as sometimes it gets difficult to open a specific type of app from the list of many applications.

Attached is the sample representation.

Toggle By Mobile/Web - Based on the toggle filter will show the list of applications.

In service studio, next to the search it would be nice to have a filter (dropdown or buttongroup) in order to filter the apps by type, for example, we select the service option and will show only the apps that are marked as a service application.

Something like in the image.

Sometimes in dev, we have several core services across applications and we don't know the name but we know the type of the app, and using this feature will accelerate our research.

Thank you,

Gonçalo Almeida

Add a filter in Service Studio to filter the APP Type

In Our Factory we have componets for Web/React/Mobile with almost the same names

So this filter will helps us to get the right app

What your opinion?

Name is available, type is not available because I would like search only reactives apps, e.g. This option is not possible.

Do you agree?

Thanks.

I would really like to be able to create my own filters so that I only see what I am working on, maybe per story or per sprint. We tried making things easier by defining teams in LifeTime but this also took away privileges that people still needed for development and deployment, so that was not a solution.

So please let us specifiy custom filters or groups of applications, just for filtering purposes

Merged this idea with 'Customize applications by group' (created on 09 Dec 2021 10:30:22 by Long Rin)

For example:

I can group mobile apps and react web or traditional web into a separate group...

- help avoid confusion

- easy to search

- presented in an organized manner

Merged this idea with 'Provide a toggle buttons/ tabs to filter the different types of apps.' (created on 20 Feb 2022 17:32:34 by Rajan C)

In the enterprise environments most of the customers are having 60+ applications (web apps and mobile apps).

And Developers are facing difficulty in filtering the apps.

So it would be nice if outsystems could provide toggle buttons/ tabs to filter the apps same as forge.

A very nice option here would be to filter by (LifeTime) team. I'm currently part of a number of teams, so the list of applications in my Service Studio is quite long, but when I'm working on a project I usually only need to see the applications that are part of the team for that specific project.

Merged this idea with 'Service Studio App Dashboard' (created on 19 Jan 2023 16:05:45 by Hugo Almeida)

Hi,

I think it would be useful to add a filter of some kind to the Service Studio's application dashboard besides the search.

The purpose of this feature would be to filter the Traditional, Reactive, Mobile applications.

Thanks,

Hugo

Providing Filter in service studio for filtering application based on application type i.e reactive, Traditional and mobile application

It will help to open application faster and easier specially for personal environment where we do lot of poc's

Merged this idea with 'Filtering the applications in service studio based on their category' (created on 08 Aug 2023 12:18:15 by Ekadeep K)

Hi Team,

By adding filtration checkbox for all the types of applications available in Service studio, it would be easy to filter the developer to pick/view the applications related to the selected category. For example, in the Forge page how Type is working.

Merged this idea with 'Filter in Service Studio for application type' (created on 20 Oct 2023 20:20:04 by Marta Fonseca)

In the Service Studio application list, next to the application name search box, I propose the addition of a filter, being it a dropdown with the application types and respective icons: Reactive, tablet, phone, tradicional and service.  I beleive the entity in the system for the application type is the "RuntimeKind".

This feature would complement the existing search functionality and provide developers with a more efficient way to navigate and manage the applications. For example, when there is dozens of several types of applications and I want to see only the mobile ones.

Dear OutSystems Team,

I am currently working in an environment with numerous applications of various types, including Reactive, Mobile, and Service applications. Managing and navigating through such a diverse set of applications can be challenging at times.

I propose adding filters at the top of the application list. These filters could allow users to categorize and view applications based on their type or other criteria. This feature would make it easier for developers to locate specific applications and streamline workflows in environments with large numbers of applications.

Hi, please search first if the idea you post is already posted in the past. It took me literally a few seconds to find out this is an existing idea. I will need to merge yours into it.
