Merge two accounts without deleting one of them.

It'd be nice to keep both accounts when merging because there might be some cases when the user wants to transfer activity to his personal account. A separate 'delete account' button or a dialog asking permissions to delete merging account would work perfectly.

HI Roman

there are 2 use cases:

Merge accounts: when a user for some reason keep 2 accounts and just want to keep 1 , and move his old account activity and certifications to the most recent account.

Change email: when the user won't want to keep this old email account anymore (most common use case, is when a user moves from a company to another).

So if you want to keep both accounts, you just need to change an email and that makes your account still active.

Hi Ana,

I don't really get your point about changing an email. Where do I need to change it?

In my case, I want to keep 2 accounts and move the activity. Like a public facing account and a work account.

You are allowed to move your certifications from one account to another. The community activity, forums and forge activity are associated with your community account. however, when you merged account, the old account is deleted, e.g. we do a kind of reset, so you can reuse it again.

Hi Roman,

We are not planning on delivering this in the near future.  The idea didn't have the expected engagement in terms of likes and comments and as I said before, you are allowed to move your certifications from one account to another. The community activity, forums and forge activity are associated with your community account. However, when you merged account, the old account is deleted, e.g. we do a kind of reset, so you can reuse it again.

Cheers
