Entities Diagram - option to switch off the interaction with Entities

I'd like to be able to remove some attributes or connections from the Diagram without affecting the database. Only to make them more readable.

Example: I'm analyzing entities related with User and all of them have an extra connection because of the CreatedBy field. I'd like to remove the field or the connection from the screen to make the diagram easier to read, but not to really delete it.


I hoped this Hide/Show attributes in Diagram was what I was looking for, but I need more.

Service Studio could have a switch to hide/show entity attributes in entities diagrams or just have a different view of a existing diagram without the attributes.

Sometimes we just want to see the relationships between entities in a simple way.

One improvement that could be implemented was in the entity diagrams to hide the fields and only the tables remain or show only the foreign keys.

Have the possibility to expand or collapse Entities when creating/editing Entity Diagrams in the canvas from the Data layer Tabs.

If drag an entity with so many attributes it will occupy a lot of space in the canvas, which difficult read the diagram.

To make the description more clear:


In the less detailed form (A), it only display the name of entity.

In a median detail form (B), it display the name of the entity on header and also the identifiers

In the full detail form (c) keeps the actual display

The median detail diagram (B) follows a graphic model similar to the ERM diagrams only with the names of the entities, key attributes and relations.

Sometimes entities get a lot of attributes and it makes it hard adding them to the diagram because they take so much room, it would be nice to be able to collapse them (maybe just show identifiers for the entity) so that you have more room to get the big picture of a database architecture.

Good one Rebecca! Believe this could indeed improve some of the Tech Lead's architecture design tasks - e.g. conceptual data model - done early in a project or throughout major iterations. Adding my vote...

It would be of great value if the diagram had an option to display only PKs and FKs, hiding the simple fields.

Our R&D team could not agree more and have been wanting such capabilities for a very long time, which is the reason why we developed and published Orbit Suite Data Manager Forge Component application, free to use.  See our must recent post and release information.

It will be nice if you could make the entity and accordion when created an Entity Diagram. 


The option to expand or collapse this will be visually cleaner when the diagram becomes a bit large
