Allow additional application metadata in Service Studio

Service Studio
Out of the scope

I have the need to organize applications and modules in multiple ways and want to be able to add multiple labels to the application. So that I can filter by label(s).

E.g. label Orders to identify all modules that are in the Orders domain. Another label could identify the module layer and jet another one to identify the team responsible for the module.

I would be great if there was a link to Discovery for these labels so that the architecture is defined inside service studio.

Hello Paul,

Although your idea makes sense and could help in some additional scenarios, we don't have short-term plans to do this. I'll keep the idea anyway to be re-considered in the future.

Cheers,

We would like to be able to add additional metadata to applications in Service Studio. You can now only enter an application name and a description. We would like to be able to also add:

- Owners (free format field to enter one or more names; alternatively a real list)

- Suite (free format field to enter a name for an application grouping)

These fields should also be searchable (separately).

Preferably, the system would remember the names entered and offer a drop-down that allows to select a previously used name or create a new one, but just some text fields would do for starters.

Hey Frans,

How is this different from using the description field?

Cheers,

Hi Vasco,

Thanks for asking that. The description field is just unstructured data. You could type something like 'Owner: John Doe' and 'Suite: My great app' in it, but since everyone can do that in a different way, it won't be searchable in a consistent and dependable way. It's different in the same way that we create structured database tables with various meaningful fields instead of just one catch-all text field as an attribute.

Hope my explanation answers your question.

Cheers!

Extensible metadata would be awesome. Not only owner, but some "admin" defined fields. We do have links to internal application catalogs, documentation, support group/team. It would mostly be text fields, but that would only be the beginning.

Hi Juan,

Yes, that would be awesome! Great addition to the idea.

Similarly to Forge components that have the icons/badges, it would be nice to have a similar option in Service Studio. Something like keywords/tags. We have a core Outsystems group that supports the main reusable components internally and it would be nice to showcase that to other, more 'external' users which are the components that are suggested for reuse. We are currently using #hashtags in the description fields but the shields are better looking :)

Another idea would be to expose the team, even maybe as a grouping or filtering in the main Service Studio window. This could come in handy for the IT Operation / Center for Enablement guys that have oversight over many portfolios.

I've tweaked the title of the idea to cover all metadata scenarios.
