IDE plugins

Service Studio SDK with some kind of API that enables programers to develop plugins that generate OutSystems "Code" and extend the IDE
J.10 May 2010

Give you some examples?

With extensions you actually can do a lot for the espaces.
But what would be an example to extend the IDE ?

Allow us to extend ServiceStudio's functionalities through the use of plugins.

Hi,

very interesting idea, but I wonder what are you missing with the current feature set?

Hi André,

I know there are currently some third party plugins for integration studio.

Apart from this I think I like the idea.
Having e.g. a VIM editor instead of the default editor or some proper plugins that help in creating XML / XSD or whatever (more wizard like).

Keep up the good ideas!
Thumbs up!

Service Studio is a great tool, however, it lacks many features that other IDEs provide.  I believe that beginning to open up the IDE to developers would be a great feature, even if only a small portion of functionality were exposed initially.

For example, I find myself frustrated at times with limited search capabilities.  Many times I will get too many results when searching for something, and it can get very, *very* annoying dealing with these limitations.  If, for example, a plugin developer had access to enumerate Actions, Queries, Entities, types, etc, perhaps they could combine existing search with regular expressions or even a much better search form with variable granularity (Only show actions or advanced queries, only show queries that use this Entity id).

If the IDE was plugin-capable, developers would not necessarily be left at the mercy of the possibility that one day, a feature or idea that we would like to see or need get scrapped, because it doesn't fit well as core functionality for Service Studio.

Just like Visual studio, allow the installation of 3rd party plugin's; and enable the power of many developers to add new features to Service Studio.

Just like the two popular IDE Microsoft visual studio and Eclipse, enable the ability for 3rd party developers and component providers to build/add custom plugins to outsystems service studio IDE.

(Optional: List service studio ide plugins via outsystems forges)
