Forge component team members benefit in community ranking with each download. I base this on my understanding of the scoring mechanism here.

My issue is that sometimes community members have asked to join the team, but never actually contribute to the component. Of course, you can never know if someone will actually contribute to the component when they request to join, but if they have not done anything in 6 months to a year of joining, I do not believe that they will add value at any time.
Granted, 1 or 2 downloads and/or reviews won't affect someone's rating all that much, but a component with more than 5 downloads a day on average starts to have an impact and the advantage is unfair to the rest of the community, and specifically, the team members that do contribute.
With contribute, I am specifically referring to maintaining the code portion because anyone can help out with questions on the forum.
Additionally, the scores accumulated because of belonging to that team should be removed from the member's ranking score.
To prevent the misuse of such a feature, I would suggest that there be a confirmation/review from perhaps the MVPs when a team member removal is requested.
The removal request should also allow for a reason of "request to remove" to be provided.
