Why not include the version number inside the release notes?
Funny enough I just told them this directly through another channel a few days ago too...

I think they listened, check the release notes page.
The LifeTime release notes are still missing the version info, though.
Currently, the only release note pages that still do not have the version number are
The rest of the release note pages already have the version control number.
Marking out of scope since we've abandoned that versioning terminology.
