Typified find functionality

It would be great if we could for instance look for a search term only within queries, or only within assigns or parameters.

Or at least have some easy way of sorting the output. Or is this already possible?

It would be great if one could filter/group search results (especially when doing F12) by results types. Example: I want to find all references to a Entity Atribute but only in simple/advanced Queries.

You can already order the results by clicking the column headers, which facilitates the search for specific types. In your example, you could order the results by Element and look for "Query Condition" or "Advanced Query" occurences, for instance.

Did you know about it?

I was looking for a way to get from Service Studio search a list of all the SQL advanced queries elements in the eSpace or Aggregates or Raise Error elements for that matter.
I would like to review the SQL's in an eSpace and don't want to leave one out... There is no way of achieving this.

Basically, just add a list filter on Search which would allow the developer to select All elements or just a specific group (eg. SQL, Assign, Raise Error, etc...)

You can currently sort the results to make it easier to narrow down... but I'd still like to filter it. Especially useful if you can filter by type with no query... like finding all Entries!

Exactly James. That's the usage I would like to have also.

Hi,

When we make a search on the platform it would be great if we could filter on the type of action we want.

See the 1 on the image.

Let's say that I want to find only on the assign action same word I cannot do that.
If I wanted to search for TRUE on an assign expression, the platform will search on everything witch is not good enough.

I hope that I explained it well enough.

I understand it.

Well, at least you can sort the result, so that could help a bit.
But in general the search could be improved.

Even sorting is not enough, I had a problem that was: there was an condition (if statement) where it was allways true, and when I made a search it returned more than 1800 occurences, you can imagine the time I lost to find the little bug ..

This seems basically the same as this other idea.

In order to clean a project, sometimes we require to go to each eSpace, each action and check if there is any usage of, for instance, comment comment element.

It would save a lot of time if we could list all of the usages of Advanced Queries, Comments, Aggregates and so on.

Thanks!

It would be nice if we could have a search/find with more advanced options that allowed you to restrict the search by tool in order, for example, to search for all the advanced queries in a module.

I would like to be able to detect all usages (within a moduler or, even better, within an application) of a component. In my case (here), I had a large application and I needed to revisit every action/screen where the Download component and the Upload widgets were being used.

Hi mariap,

This is similar to this idea right? https://www.outsystems.com/ideas/2799/find-usages-of-design-elements

Can I merge both of them?

Cheers

Hi Miguel,

Would this be something like this idea? https://www.outsystems.com/ideas/2799/find-usages-of-design-elements

Can I merge both of the ideas (it will merge the comments and add the likes ;)

Cheers

I can understand you would want to find all uploads on your application... but why do you need to find all switches?

On the other hand, it *could* be useful to find all advanced-sql and review them if they still need to be adv. sql

Sorting through the columns is useful but does not provide much gain in productivity when working with large modules when performing maintenance.

It is not always feasible to refactor large modules when providing maintenance or enhancement services to a customer.

To be able to quickly gain familiarity with the module and find usages based on a specific property type or element would improve the interaction with the results.

As an example: when doing a "Find Usage" for an entity 121 results are returned. In this case, I am only interested in looking for Element = Data Source of which there are 9 results. Sorting the Elements is quick, but the scrolling to try and find the relevant element is frustrating depending on the number of results that precede the item that you are looking for.

Like this one!

A workaround that in the past I used, specially for Advanced Queries elements (now SQL elements), was to include a tag, for example "#aq", in the Description of the Advanced Query so that later I could search for that tag with the normal search (CTRL + F).

It should be possible to find usages of native elements like Exceptions raisers, handlers, links etc

Hi,

There should be an option to find usages of widgets used so that we can track at how many screens it is used.

Thanks and Regards,
