Coinciding with the fast growth of its overall business, along with the increase in demand for cloud development platforms, OutSystems today announced that its North American customer base has grown by more than 400% in the last year, including a wide mix of new customers ranging from well-funded start-ups to large enterprise customers. In support of this momentum, OutSystems also announced significant investments in the North American market, including the appointment of Tony De Sousa as Vice President of North American Operations.
OutSystems’ new U.S.-based customers span a broad range of industries, including automotive, biotechnology and healthcare, education, financial services and banking, and information technology, and were among the first to take full advantage of cloud-based development and delivery using the Agile Platform. Ortho Kinematics, a medical technology startup using advanced image analysis to enhance patient care within the spinal surgery field, built and deployed a customized workflow management application using the Agile Platform, succeeding where a “brand name” platform failed. Using Amazon’s EC2 and OutSystems’ Agile Platform, Faith Educational Ministries, an accredited, independent high school with locations in Georgia and Iowa and an online school offering, built a new Student Information System (SIS) in only seven weeks.
As OutSystems continues its fast growth in North America, the company has made major investments to support its U.S.-based customers. De Sousa, the company’s newly appointed Vice President of North American Operations, will oversee the continued expansion of OutSystems’ North American market, and be responsible for all U.S. customer facing operations. De Sousa joined OutSystems in August 2005 and was previously responsible for world-wide sales. Prior to OutSystems De Sousa held VP Sales positions at Selectica EMEA, Motive Communications, Sterling Software and at Ernst & Young. In addition to De Sousa, OutSystems also appointed Terence Fugazzi as U.S. Marketing Director. In this role, Fugazzi will work hand in hand with De Sousa and the U.S. sales and delivery units to drive awareness and customer acquisition across North America. Previously, Fugazzi has worked in senior marketing positions at companies such as Allegiance and Altiris where his capabilities in B2B technology marketing dramatically improved their awareness, lead volume and sales.
