OutSystems Names Innovation Award Winners for Americas

Atlanta, GA -  19 January 2016

Companies recognized for outstanding innovation in rapidly delivering mobile and web apps

OutSystems, the enterprise Rapid Application Delivery (RAD) platform provider, is pleased to announce the winners of the OutSystems Americas Innovation Awards. The Awards Program recognizes those enterprises using OutSystems to transform IT and drive digital innovation, efficiency and productivity in the process. Award candidates were evaluated on select criteria including business impact, business results, user adoption and experience rates, and measureable IT benefits.

Winners of the OutSystems Americas Innovation Awards include:

Estafeta Mexicana – MiEstafetaTM

In just 10 weeks, Estafeta delivered MiEstafeta, a single portal for all of their applications. The lengthy process associated with traditional application development was not an option for Estafeta’s mission-critical apps, so they selected OutSystems to reduce time to market, speed change cycles, minimize production errors, and best meet customer needs. MiEstafeta has transformed the way the company interacts with its customers, adding a new communication channel and creating a better experience. Because of its success, Estafeta’s IT group achieved credibility within the organization and will now migrate the rest of its applications onto OutSystems. MiEstafeta has helped differentiate Estafeta from the rest of the market and has added value for Estafeta customers.

Allan Bros., Inc.  – IoT, Mobile and APIs (Innovation meets “Agri-vation”)

Allan Bros. needed a cross-platform mobile application that could access data at various points across its fruit growing, packing, and shipping operations and make it available real-time to field and warehouse workers as well as external clients. Using OutSystems, in-house citizen developer talent, and APIs, Allan Bros. built an application that serves as a single point of control, streamlines data collection, and incorporates mechanical operations (Internet of Things.) The project was an interesting adventure into a citizen developer connecting physical devices with existing data and business process.

Kent State University – Strategic Adoption of Rapid Application Delivery (RAD) Platform

Kent State’s vision to be a community of change agents and its commitment to putting technology into action has resulted in new programs that rely on agile development and cloud-based services. Adopting OutSystems has produced gains in flexibility, agility and efficiency. Its first two apps have allowed students, faculty and administrators to securely access and process information on smart devices, as well as make requests for services. The university’s IT department can now devote more of its attention to innovation, quickly prototyping applications as well as involving students in building new apps, making the Platform both a learning and time-saving opportunity.

"We congratulate each winner for using a rapid application development (low-code) platform to deliver innovative and strategically important applications for their organizations,” said Darcy Kurtz, vice president of global marketing for OutSystems. “These winners clearly exemplify how enterprise IT can drive company success by reducing delivery time of beautiful enterprise-grade applications.  Their leadership built a bridge between IT and business departments, enabling them to create innovative solutions that solve everyday business issues and drive a competitive advantage."
