Advanced Query Editor
The Advanced Query editor, allows you to specify your SQL statements and test your advanced queries.
The Advanced Query Editor is divided into two sections:
The upper section, where the query input/output is defined:
Input Parameters: The only way to send data that can be used inside the advanced query. Input parameters are optional. Learn more About the Advanced Query Input Parameters.
Output Structure: Since the OutSystems Platform has a strongly typed language, you need to define the structure (data types of the columns) that your query returns. For example if you perform a query over the User entity, that contains the attributes Id, Name, Email, PhoneNumber, you need to specify that your query has an output structure that has the User type. Learn more about the Output Structure.
The lower section, where the query is defined and tested:
In the lower section you have three tabs to write your SQL statements, test and review the query executed in the database:
SQL: The area where you type your SQL statements. Learn more about how to specify your SQL statements;
Test Inputs: If you define any input parameters, you can use this tab to specify the arguments to test your query in design time. This way you can iteratively design your advanced queries and test them with multiple inputs;
Test Output: Once you have specified your SQL statements and the query's output structure, you can click the 'Test' button and review the results in this tab.
