Unable to enable Shared Memory protocol

Symptom: The OutSystems Platform Community Edition fails to install stating that “Unable to enable Shared Memory protocol”.

Cause: There is some system protection preventing the Shared Memory Protocol to be enabled.

Resolution: Manually enable the Shared Memory Protocol.

  1. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager

  2. Under “SQL Server Network Configuration” -> “Protocols for <Instance Name>” enable that Shared Memory Protocol.

  3. Re-run the OutSystems Platform Community Edition installer.
