Symptom: The OutSystems Platform Community Edition fails to install when trying to configure Microsoft SQL Server.

Cause: There was an error with the Microsoft SQL Server installation or there was a previous broken installation of Microsoft SQL Server.

Resolution: Manually install Microsoft SQL Server.

  1. Download and install Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29062)

  2. Set the server collation as CIAI and enable mixed-mode authentication.

  3. Re-run the OutSystems Platform Community Edition installer.
