The idea is really cool ;)
However, the demo server doesn't work on my machine (no autocomplete appears). I tested both in Firefox and Chrome..
Also when you click on "Items" menu item it asks for login.

Vasco, for now, while I prepare the New version, you need to refresh the page after the first load. It happrns because the first page load is faster than the localstorage load. The next version it will be intuitive...

Also consider using doubleclick and CTRL+Space js events to open the dialog as well.
You can inspect the OS combobox code.
