Currently the CheckNIF action is not aceppting numbers starting with the algarism 8.Following the website https://www.nif.pt/ in the home page you can read the following, indicating that NIF starting wih '8' is valid for "businessman in individual name":
We had this problem for some of our clients, and after validating their NIF in the website, corrected for our business.

You can check it here, but if you don't like Wikipedia and like a more official source you can also find it here.
Numbers started with 8 are obsolete, they are no longer used or valid.

Added a new version to accept the numbers started with 74.
Yes those are recent additions as it was for the starting digit 3 (was valid but not used yet, until early this year)
