how to upload app to app store without a mac?
Question

I have gotten to the point of generating the .ipa file for my mobile app.  However, if I don't have a mac how can I upload that .ipa into the app store submission form?

Hello again Jason,

I also had that same problem with my submission process.

Unfortunately, you really need a Mac...

Kind regards,

Hi,

Until about a month ago, there was a free application that you could download for windons, that you could submit your IPA and managed to simulate the sending by Mac. But Apple itself blocked this alternative. At the date I am aware of, you have no other reliable and safe alternative than the Apple Transporter to submit IPA (of course you can still submit via X-code (natively)).

Cheers

I got my hands (remotely) on a mac - do you know of any good tutorials for someone who has never used a mac but has the .ipa file to upload this to the app store?  I have the app submission done except for selecting the build.

Hi,

If you managed to send the IPA to the store, you no longer need the Mac. Now you will receive a notification saying that the IPA has been submitted, and you will go to your apple connect account and in the Compilations section, choose the IPA you submitted.

Cheers

Hello Jason,

Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, you need access to a Mac at some point.  The Mac you use does not need to be associated with the Apple Id you are uploading to though.

Upload methods are through Xcode, altool, or the Mac Transporter app (https://help.apple.com/app-store-connect/#/devb1c185036)

There is an App Store Connect API (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appstoreconnectapi), so you might be able to use that though I haven't tried it before.  This section seems relevant: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appstoreconnectapi/uploading_assets_to_app_store_connect

You might also be able to explore Microsoft's App Center (https://appcenter.ms/), maybe it has a mechanism to do it? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/appcenter/distribution/stores/apple

I hope that helps

Ok - for someone who has never owned a mac - what is a good option for pretty much just uploading .ipa files made in OutSystems to the app store?  I think that is pretty much all it would be used for.

so as a follow up to this - I found a coworker with a mac, took about 30 seconds to download transporter and probably 2 minutes to upload the app.  I have a mac book air on order so that this is much easier in the future.
