I do not know if you still need help with this issue but I can share my experience with you.
To save data in the database what I did was to create an entity with the same attributes that the structures required by the calendar has. After creating an event with the CreateEvent Client Action, assign all the fields of the structure to the entity on the database and call to the Server Action CreateEvent (the one of the entity in the db).

Are you able to show more examples of what you used? I am currently working on saving events to my DB and I have not been able to do this successfully as of yet.
