1. Do you use Service Studio on Windows?
2. Do you have “Update Service Studio automatically” checked?
Then, you may be one of the randomly selected users from an initial group of 15% that'll have their environment automatically updated to the new Service Studio version!
You'll be able to use all the capabilities that you already love, but now with a revamped interface, as well as several improvements to the CSS, JS, and SQL editors... plus the new much-requested dark theme! (See this comment below for more details)
We'd love to deliver this new version to every single developer in this first wave of lucky users, but we want to make sure we're able to handle all the extremely valuable feedback we're expecting to receive.
And if you're not part of this first wave, worry not! We'll soon do another draw of random users that'll also get access to this brand-spanking new version.
We'll keep on adding users in future waves, until this new version becomes the Windows stable version.
What about Mac users? They're already getting all of these benefits with the Mac version we have available for download right now! If you're on a Mac, make sure you go get it now :)
We truly appreciate your trust and dedication: our mission is to always provide you with the best possible product. Thank you so much for your continued engagement. We hope to keep improving this shiny new Service Studio with every weekly release, moving forward.
Good luck to become a winner, and please do send us your feedback! (Get that auto-update on!)
Can't wait! 🤖🤙

Amazing, thanks for sharing!
Great news!!! :)
Great news !
Great! Thanks for sharing this information! :)
Pretty much excited.
Great
Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward, tried the beta version and enjoyed working with it 👍
Great news! Im using the Mac version and the revamped interface looks clean and crisp, specially with the dark theme.
Great news!
Amazing ...
Great!
This thread started with the announcement of the progressive rollout of the new Service Studio to 15% of Windows users.
Now that it has started, we anticipate here the ten differences only visible so far to the lucky developers:
The new Service Studio is more consistent with a revamped UI — a prettier and easier to use design system. We’ve refreshed our whole iconography, not to mention the long craving of our Community - the Dark Theme. You can read more about this in one of our blog articles focusing on how our UX/UI team tackled the new IDE challenge.
You can use the new Service Studio just like you used the old one to create and change all types of applications. From Traditional Web, Mobile, and Reactive Web Apps, to Service and Libraries. Also, you can generate Mobile Builds and Progressive Web Apps on the revamped Application Details page.
Expression, Style Sheet, JS, and SQL editors now have their own Find and Replace, line numbering, collapse/expand regions of code, an improved autocomplete, syntax highlighting, and support for ES6.
Data Type Editor dialog was replaced with a new experience. Editing Record and List of Records data types is done in the Elements Tree and the Properties pane, similarly to creating and editing a Structure. Here’s why we came to have this experience and how we tested it.
Entity Editor’s UI got slimmed down to contain only the advanced features which are not available in the Elements Tree and Properties pane. Also, the Structure Editor was removed because, according to the telemetry data, it was not being used. With the development time saved, we made improvements in other places of Service Studio.
Integrating with REST or SOAP API is as easy as it used to be but now with some copy refinements.
Translations Editor got a clearer and better organized user interface.
The Widget Tree is now a tab next to the Elements Tree.
The Properties pane is not a table any more but an established list of inputs.
We added text in the old green 1-Click Publish and in other buttons;
Having listed these 10 points, let me state that some minor rarely used features are still missing.
So, if you miss something, or have any comment, do share your feedback here or click the button in your Service Studio:
That’s the only way for us to deliver the best product ever! Thank you.
Cant wait to try this out!
Are there updates to the main environment screen where you select your application?
We have a large project with many applications and many modules, and the icon tile display makes things very difficult to find the correct module quickly. Even a basic list view would be hugely helpful (the truncated names are a nightmare). Even more useful would be a tree-type view which showed the modules within an application, from the highest level.
Hi MichaelR,
The main environment screen displays information basically the same as previous version of Service Studio.
But, challenges like yours, specially in large projects, have been shared in the past. So, we are looking into it.
May we reach out to you directly to drill down on your needs, please?
Thank you
António
Absolutely. As a staff member I assume you have access to my email - or send me a DM and we can discuss further.
Hi Michael,
I know this is not like the type tree you were referring to and you might already know this, but this has helped me tremendously in an environment that also has many applications/modules.
The 'Open From Environment' (or ctrl + O) button brings up a table that can be searched and sorted as you require. So to get something close to your tree structure you could sort by application name and refine your search from there?
Great... Awesome changes.
I have the new version. Wow, how wonderful.
Layers moved down, which occupied more space reflecting on element tree, and property areas.
Space is reduced in the editor area too.
Hence more attention is needed for the developer while scrolling the editor, element, and property area.
I didn't like it. want to degrade to old look...I didn't see this option :(
I agree, various elements take up more space, without any added benefits. There's some work to do for the design team!
Hi Mahender RC and Kilian,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Keep them coming.
I'll take your feedback to Design Team and once I have something to move forward on this topic (taking more screen space) I get back to you.
Cheers
Aaah, so that´ s what happened last night !
Looks good, but don´ t have time to play with it right now 😞
One thing I noticed is opening example oml directly from the forum didn´ t work anymore. I had to take some clumsy extra steps.
Dorine
Hi Dorine,
Thank you for your feedback. May we engage with you directly to understand what may have happened, please?
sure,
not tomorrow, though.
2 pieces of feedback:
Hi Shawn,
Thank you for your feedback. I'll send it to the design team.
I'll get back to you when I have more information.
Hello @Shawn Hall
Which OutSystems UI Web version do you have?Could you share a sample?
Thank you!
We're using the latest version 1.9.3 of OutSystems UI Web. I'll create a sample application later today.
Hello @Shawn Hall .No need. I was able to reproduce it.
Hi Shawn, how are you?
Regarding "not clear enough distinction with a popup over the main UI", let me share we are already working on it. I cannot share a time frame when it will be solved, but keep your feedback coming, please!
Thank you OutSystems
Haven't tried the beta version yet but thankfully my service studio automatically updated to the NEW SERVICE STUDIO.Cheers for dark theme!
time to explore it
Great !
Got a nice feedback from some users already, worthy update!!
This is great news.. waiting for new update
Amazing! Can't wait to give the dark mode a go!
Hi!... Great news!, I'm one of the lucky ones!, already been using the mac version for a while. There's one thing, tho.I work for a company with many projects/modules/developers, and yesterday after the upgrade I made some changes in a project, and after doing a Merge with another developer's version it was published, seemingly without a problem.
But today after checking the code again my changes were not implemented. He's using the 11.14 (latest stable windows version). And wasn't asked to merge nor published his version over mine.Did anyone else experience something like this?
Thanks!PS: Also believe space is reduced in the editor area too.
Hey Moises,
Yes, I have the same problem :(
Hi Moises and Tiago,
We are looking into this issue.
May I ask each one of you to share your feedback using Service Studio, please?
(We will have your OML to validate your concrete situation.)
I'm having the same issue. It's not merging with other versions ending up in lost code.
Also experienced the merge issue. Working together with a colleague in the same module. Me with the new version, and he with the latest stable 11.14.16. When he published, it simple didn't ask to merge the changes and the code was lost. After rollback the service studio, everything back to normal.
You should consider this issue as critical to check asap. This was reported for the first time in June 1th and we are still here. Maybe you should consider to pause the rollout

Regards,
Guilherme
Looks like it was fixed on June 13th on new release.

Thanks for the support,
Two things:
On the tree view, when selection a navigation\TabsContenteItem its not very clear in terms of UI.
the icon is not very visible.
Also, when having a big table cannot access the last column.
maybe an horizontal scroll by default when certain conditions are meet?
Hi Fabio,
Thank you for your feedback. I'll share it with the Design Team and get back to you once I have news.
Great, Thanks for Sharing
great!!!
Amazing !!
That's Great!!!
Great, Thanks for sharing this .
Nice one!! Happy to hear this great news...
Great new!!! I love a dark mode. The iconography seems more pleasant and friendly.
Great! Thank you OutSystems for the new update..
Hello OutSystems Developers!
We are running a research activity for this new version of Service Studio – it's a "first click test" and it only takes 5-10 minutes to complete. (You're presented with a task, and are asked where would you click to complete it – it's really quick!) Please click here to participate: https://ows.io/cm/3u607vuk
Thanks for your help :)
Great News
Great work! Thanks for sharing!
António Barros
Great work! My colleague seems is lucky one.
But unfortunately because corporate's policy she need rollback to the old version.
The problem is even she download and installed old version, and uncheck the “Update Service Studio automatically” option, It's still automatically update to the newest version. Any suggestion is appreciated.
I have the same problem.
If I don't restart the computer I keep working on the latest version that i installed. When restart/shutdown this new version will be installed.
I also have uncheck the update service studio automatically
Hi Tom and Fábio, thank you for raising this issue. I'm sorry for any disruption this issue may have caused.
May I ask you (or your colleague) to delete files Settings.xml and Settings.xml_backup on the folder C:\ProgramData\OutSystems\ServiceStudio 11.0?
Then Open SS, unselect "Update Service Studio automatically" and confirm that preference was actually changed. If so, this should do it. If not, I have another workaround (not as slim as this one).
Thank you.
Fantastic work! Really love the new version. I also noticed that some shortcuts are gone like Alt+M+V.
Pardon my ignorance, but what did that shortcut do before?
Compare to other/older version.
Sorry I made a mistake,
I've just tried both in the latest stable version of the "old" Service Studio (11.14.16 build 60354) and they don't work "as is", nor are they on the shortcuts list.
Edit: The valid shortcuts are Alt+M (to open the Module menu) followed by a single F or V (the shortcut letter for those specific menu entries). Interesting haven't used menu access shortcuts in a long time 👍
If that's something you value, might want to either provide feedback directly from Service Studio or create an Idea to bring back menu access shortcuts.
Cheers, and thanks for teaching me something today!
Alt to open the menu doesn't work in the new SS 😱.
I won it! haha. Loving the dark mode which make development easy to the eyes.
Congrats! haha
Great Work! Thanks
Great news, waiting for the updates!
Great, waiting for the update
Great!!
After using it some days, I also face the issues reported above by other community members. Can't wait to get the stable version of it.
Great!!! But Some Bugs Availabe
Hello Gokulprasanth Munusamy,
Thank you for your feedback.
I acknowledge that the New Service Studio has some "youth" issues that we are attentively looking into and working hard to solve. This was somehow expected and that's why we need the help from you all.
When, we at OutSystems, were analyzing the release of New Service Studio, at some point someone said:
- "Yes, I guess we could solve some more issues but that would delay the release. Why don't we ask our Great Community for help? They are always so available to help and comprehensive if something is not yet at the standard they deserve..."
I assure you we will eventually reach the quality you are used to.
OutSystems Community is something we all should be proud of!
Meanwhile, if you find a bug, may I ask you to provide that feedback using the studio?
Thank you, very much.
Got updated to latest version...looking forward to explore new features
Looking forward to this, thanks!
Most awaited by every low-code developer :)
Amazing!
How can I return to the old Service Studio?
Anyone can help me, please?
Thanks!
Go to this page https://www.outsystems.com/downloads/
download the latest version and then install it.
And don't forget to turn off automatic updates!
The new version are still on beta?
No, it's GA, but it's not yet available on the download page.
Absolutely correct!
Thank you Kilian for your help and for "staying on top" of this progressive rollout.
Thanks
Amazing, can't wait !
Thanks for Sharing!! :)
Hi,Last week, I won the Service Studio update!Until now, it looks great, but I found an annoying flaw: selecting multiple nodes and moving them by simply dragging with your mouse is no longer possible. SS only moves the clicked node, instead of the entire bunch of selected nodes.
For now, I found some sort of workaround by pressing (and holding) the Shift or Ctrl key, but this method is far from ideal.Hope OutSystems will get it fixed soon!
BTW: I am running Service Studio 11.53.5 at the moment.
Hi Rob,
I can't reproduce that, dragging multiple nodes works just fine. Can you share a video of it happening (e.g. using ScreenToGif, like I did for the below)?
Video has been added to original post.
Thanks, I can confirm this is with Reactive only, not with traditional / server side logic. Be sure to report it via SS too!
EDIT: Must've been in-between updates, because server-side also doesn't work anymore for me.
Hi Rob, thank you for your feedback! I can confirm that this is a known issue with version 11.53.5 (60717).We are working to solve it as soon as possible and the fix should be included in the next release! To make sure you don't miss it just confirm if you have selected the "Update Service Studio automatically" preference.
Hi, is the update to the new UI per user or some other metric? one of my machines updated but the other did not.
Hi Johan,
Thank you for sharing.
Actually, the new Service Studio is being delivered to randomly selected SSIDs (which are unique IDs generated for each Service Studio installation).
If you have Service Studio installed in two different machines, they have different SSIDs. That's why you observed that situation. If you wish to include both machines in the rollout process, just share with me the SSID of machine that still has Legacy Service Studio. (If you don't know how to find out the SSID, just message me and I'll explain).
Hello Antonio,
I still haven't received the update on my system. Can you help me in getting the latest version as well? Thanks.
Kind regards,
Abhishek Sharma
Hello,
Apparently I am one of the 'lucky' 15%. How can I stop this? My service studio keeps updating to this 11.53 version that is not compatible with our security settings and that I therefore cannot work in.
Every time I uninstall it, and install the correctly working version (11.14) but in Service Studio the Edit > Preferences > Update Service Studio automatically keeps setting itself to True (no matter how many times I set it to False).
What can i do to avoid having to reinstall the correct version of Service Stuio 5 times a day?
Hi Linda,
I'm sorry for the disruption this is causing to your work.
May I ask you to take a look at this previous answer on this Forum thread and see if it allows you to workaround the issues you're having?
Please feel free to reach out to me directly if the issues continue.
Thank you and I apologize for all the disruption
Thanks for the quick reaction. I couldn't follow the link (it brought me somewhere in the thread but I don't think it brought me to what you wanted it to) but I scrolled throught the numerous reactions and found something to fix the issue of not being able to save the settings (although i still don't understand why saving some setting wouldn't lead to that setting being saved...).
I have deleted the settings files and hope it helps.
As for "it brought me somewhere in the thread but I don't think it brought me to what you wanted it to", I have that too sometimes, has to do with slow loading of this large thread I think. This is the post that loads for me now, and looks like the right one:
As for "i still don't understand why saving some setting wouldn't lead to that setting being saved" I think that's just a bug in the old version of Service Studio.
Do note, by the way, that in a short while, the old SS will be deprecated, so it's a good idea to have the "security settings" in your company updated to allow the new SS.
Let's hope we stop working with OutSystems before that happens.
It's not really our security settings but just total malfunction when opening SS coming from LifeTime.
Okay, another question. Unfortunately I now have been 'blessed' with this crappy new version on my laptop. Of course I immediately tried to fix this by uninstalling, reinstalling the correct version and deleting the settings.xml files. But those files don't exist on my laptop. Nevertheless, SS keeps on 'forgetting' that I don't want to update automatically as it will reset that setting to True all by itself.
What can I do to fix this? The problem has shifted from my workplace to my home workplace and here I can't fix it in the way that was described earlier.
I sent you a personal message to help solving the issue you're reporting.
Great news!!!....
Just received the update and wanted to give some feedback about a couple of things that i noticed right off the bat that could improve in my opinion:
These things might seem minor but in my opinion it's definitely a worse experience despite the improvements.
Keep up the good work otherwise.
Hi Francisco,
Agree with both points. However, be sure to send feedback of each of them (and others you find) using the built-in feedback pop-up, reachable via the feedback toolbar icon (), so it's put into OutSystems bug and feature tracker system.
Would it be possible to check the differences between the two versions?
repeated bugs.
Hello Anderson,
I apologize for any issues the "repeated bugs" may be causing you.
Unfortunately, I don't really understand what they are. May I ask you to submit feedback, with some extra descriptions, ideally steps to reproduce the issue, through the Service Studio it self?
Thank you. Cheers
You can find the release notes here: https://success.outsystems.com/Support/Release_Notes/11/Cross-platform_Service_Studio
After using the beta version I couldn't go back to the version, wait for mine to update to be able to use all the benefits
Loving the new Service Studio! I just wanted to bring to Outsystems' attention that the "Open from Environment" shortcut (Ctrl + O) and the "Open Files" shortcut (Ctrl + Shift + O) are not working in the newest update.
Hello, Robert,
Let me share with you that we are currently fixing the issue you just reported. It will be released ASAP.
Thanks for sharing and explaining the new changes :)
From my point of view the blank space you can observe in the pic is too big which implays less space for design.
I´d consider reduce it.
Also the "Public" property could be a check box or switch, knowing that the dropdown is not the best widget choice for just two options offering.
It´s great the new view of the property pane though.
Hola María del Carmen,
Let me share that we had similar feedback previously and we have improved the properties pane sizes (and resizes). It will be released ASAP.
Lucky me :) but in black theme the colors are so bright that is you try to read the text written above the widget. can give pain to your eyes for long run
I wondered why the new version magically appeared on my computer but not the rest of my team LOL! I am really liking the dark mode and the new list of record editing capability. Keep up the great work!
Hi Jason,
Thank you for your feedback. It's great to know you're enjoying it. :-)
If the rest of your team didn't get it, perhaps they don't have the "Update SS automatically" preference On. It is also required to close the Service Studio for the upgrade installer to run.
Feel free to reach out if any issue still remains.
After getting this new version, one of my teammates got an issue with icons in Service Studio. They are all missing as shown in the attached picture. He has tried uninstalling and re-installing many times but the problem still remains. This issue does not happen when downgrading back to the GA version. Is there a workaround for this issue or he just needs to stop evaluating this new version and going back to the GA one?
Hi Peter,
This is a known bug, related to the Regional settings in Windows. Probably it is set to Thai, or another East Asian language? Try setting it to English, and the icons should appear again. OutSystems is aware of this, and will fix it as soon as possible.
Thank you. That fixed the issue for now.
Great news...!
