New OutSystems UI v2.12.0 with new components

Hi everyone,

A new version of OutSystems UI is live! In this release, we introduced new Picker components and added requested features to Dropdowns.

Check the highlights of this new release below.

What’s new?

  • New pattern TimePicker
    • New client actions to change the state of the TimePicker (TimePickerOpen, TimePickerClose, TimePicker and TimePickerClose).
    • In mobile, the TimePicker opens the native picker, by default. We added a new client action to toggle the native behavior in mobile apps. (TimePickerToggleNativeBehavior).
  • New pattern MonthPicker
    • New client actions to change the state of the MonthPicker (MonthPickerOpen, MonthPickerClose, MonthPickerClear)
    • New client action to change the language of the MonthPicker (MonthPickerSetLanguage)
    • This pattern was based on an idea suggested by Pedro Canário on OutSystems Ideas. Kudos to Pedro!
  • New features for DropdownSearch and DropdownTags
    • New property to arrange the options by groups using the GroupName parameter inside the OptionsList.
    • New property to add descriptions for each option using the Description property inside the OptionsList.
    • Note: Since we added new parameters to the OptionsList, these changes caused a breaking change.
    • Note 2: When opening on phone size, the new dropdowns will have a new native look and feel by showing as a popup.
  • New Flexbox useful classes
  • New client actions DatePickerDisableDays and DatePickerDisableWeekdays
    • Based on feedback we received in the release of OutSystems UI 2.8.3 about the new DatePicker, we decided to bring back these two features through client actions.

Some feedback for the Month Picker:

Since the Month Picker uses the structure 'MonthYear' it makes it hard to convert dates. This could be fixed by changing the identifier of the Static Entity 'Month', so for January the identifier would be 1 instead of 'January'.

Even better a Date object should be returned in the Month Picker OnSelected event meaning you would not need the  Static Entity 'Month' nor the structure 'MonthYear'.

Regarding datepickers, there is an issue regarding this widget not working well inside a sidebar. Basically the value of the "z-index" attribute from the ".flatpickr-calendar.open" is now 99 which is now lower than the one set for the sidebar class ".osui-sidebar", causing the datepicker selection to appear below the sidebar level and consequently not appear visible in the screen.

Edit: Same issue may also occur when using popups or other elements that depend on the z-index level to properly work.
