Hello everyone.
We’re posting here today to share with you all the exciting news that OutSystems and Ionic are joining forces. Ionic is one of the most widely used platforms for building mobile applications using web technology, powering hundreds of thousands of mobile apps in stores today, and driving open-source projects with over 15M installations every month.
OutSystems and Ionic’s communities share the same principles and missions: we are healthy communities of software innovators, who thrive on collaboration and helping others, and are passionate about building great applications together. Ionic, as a company, focuses extensively on mobile software development, and having them with OutSystems will help accelerate our tech stack and deliver even better low-code mobile applications. Together, we will allow you to deliver apps with a native mobile look and feel, including similar native mobile performance, while providing the flexibility to add native customizations, all with the speed of low-code mobile app development you’re used to. Learn more about the news in our press release here or check out the blog from Ionic CEO, Max Lynch
So, what does this mean for us as the OutSystems community?
First of all, we are thrilled to welcome all Ionic employees and developers. With over 5 million members and growing, it’s exciting to have so many new talented developers to work with and learn from. We encourage any new members who are joining us from Ionic and want to learn more about OutSystems to sign up for a Personal Edition and add low-code to your skill set.
Second, this also represents a great opportunity for our OutSystems community to learn more about Ionic’s leading product line in the mobile space and Ionic’s large community. It is very easy to create an Ionic account and explore their product, contribute to their open-source projects, and innovate further in your mobile apps.
Last, as we explore how to best start leveraging the cutting-edge mobile technology stack from Ionic with OutSystems, we will be sharing examples of how to best use Ionic and OutSystems together for your projects, and you all will have opportunities to grow your skills, and deliver even better, more innovative mobile applications.
As we outlined in our public communications, there are no plans to merge communities, training, or products at this stage. We’re two companies with industry-leading communities and product lines. We will keep doing what we’ve been doing, and improving together.
The future holds enormous potential, and it starts today. Welcome to a new chapter for our entire community!
