AI Mentor Studio Authentication - IT User & Community login - Important update

Hi everyone!

Taking into account the feedback received from customers and the community, AI Mentor Studio will not enforce IT User Authentication as a login method. We will keep both the community and IT User login methods available for AI Mentor Studio, so that each customer can choose the one that best fits their needs.

Although the IT user authentication is optional, enforcing it as the login mechanism configured on your OutSystems LifeTime environment, adds an extra security layer and allows users to login against your Federated Identity Server if you are using the External IdP configuration (OpenID Connect), Active Directory, or the regular Username&Password.

Here is what you should do if you choose to enable the IT User Authentication in AI Mentor Studio (not mandatory):

  1. Update to AI Mentor Studio Probes 4.3
  2. For self-managed and cloud customers with Internal Network configured:
    1. Make sure that the following network requirements are configured so that AI Mentor Studio, a SaaS product, can reach the environment where you perform code analysis (typically DEV) and LifeTime. Inbound access has to be guaranteed to those environments.
Important: There are updated network requirements for the new 4.3 probe, but only needed for IT user authentication.
  3. For customers that configured IT Users External IdP (OpenID Connect) authentication:
    1. Make sure that you validate the application endpoints configured on the IdP.
Check the following documentation pages for further information: AzureAD, Okta, and others IdP (OIDC).
Important: New endpoint URL will be needed for AI Mentor Studio.
  4. Turn on the capability on the AI Mentor Studio Maintenance Area > Configurations tab.
    1. From this point on, the community login is no longer active, and users will have to authenticate with their IT user credentials alongside specifying the LifeTime environment URL.

Note: If you enabled the IT User Authentication login mechanism you can still go back and change it to the OutSystems account (as shown below).

Thanks!

Does the IT user auth also work with non-internet facing dev environments? There is no documentation on this.

Hi Bas, on that scenario you'll need to configure the full 4.3 network requirements, including new inbound communication (only needed for IT User)

So for a non-internet facing DEV environment, we need to make it internet-facing but restrict it to those IP addresses?
