Properties Pane: change properties for selected widgets

By Harry de Boer on 9 Feb 2012
I'd like the posibility to select multiple widgets and then in the properties pane the properties that are not unique to a widget can be edited. For example, when selecting multiple radiobuttons I want to set the destination and style once for all radiobuttons.

Currently you can only set the Public property on 1 item at a time.

I've just imported an icon set of over 100 items which I'm putting in it's own eSpace purely for reuse by other applications.

I'm going to have to manually set each icon/image to public. This may take me some time!

It would be good if I could just multi-select all the items and toggle their Public attribute in one go!

Cheers,
Richard

Okay so I switched to an IconSet containing 3500 images. I've decided only to make the ones public that I need :-)

But this would still be a good idea.

Good spot. Probably. Better suggestion too - more generic. Like added to that idea.

I would like to be able to select more than one object getting the common properties and edit them.

Hi,

I would like to see the following.

when you select a couple of, input-widgets in a screen, the "properties" block will become empty. Which is not very handy.
I would like to alter their css in 1 go, or set the same width. you name it.
every property that could be set the same should be editable.
ofcourse with and extra option "keep" where the specific property is kept

The alternative might be search and replace, but that won't be sufficient, because you don't want to change everything (and you cannot search on specific widget-types)

+1 from me. I've often wondered why that wan't possible.

Would be very useful when I have to set the mandatory property for several attributes in an entity for example.

Ability to edit common properties of multiple selected objects.

E.g. Select several containers and edit their style at once, instead of having to select each individually to do this.

Would be a big time saver :)

When you selecte several elements, the <Style> dropdown list is disable.
The idea is that you can apply a Style to several elements in on click, instead of selecting one by one and applying the style.

It would be very nice edit multiple objects at once. For example to edit the width or left spacing for multiple containers or inputs.

Martin

This is a great idea. Not only for containers or inputs, but for all kind of elements. For instance, I usually need to set roles for several pages, set mandatory atrributes to true or even a lot of actions to be public.

I guess this will be a good improvement if implemented.

Fabio

What about the ability to select 10 containers and be able to change al the properties at once.

Will safe a lot of time to go to each and change...

Good idea but not only for containers. I would extend it to entity attributes for instance.
If I select some entity attributes I would like to see the common properties and have the possibility to change them.

Would be nice to change common attributes at once for a selected group.
E.g. Setting the icon for a group of selected actions.

Select multiple items in Service Studio with CTRL-Click and get to adjust their shared properties. For instance i need to add a CSS class to 4 items on screen. Instead of just clicking one item adding the class and then clicking the next one and then adding the class, I simply CTRL-Click all the items that need the class and in the property window (bottom right) I see their shared properties. One of the shared properties would be 'Style Classes' and i can set them all at the same time. This feature would save a lot of development time and it surprises me Outsystems does not support it yet.

This stuff is working really well for other frameworks, like Oracle APEX for instance.
