I get your point that visually it would look better but at the end of the day the functionality is there, right?

Yeah, you're right it need some functionality, but every small detail will add some beauty to it. And when someone sees that, they can easily understand they're serving this company for this long and they got promoted from this position to this. It eventually increases the visual experience.

This thing will be mostly helpful when companies searching for the right candidate. there we can also display the total years that user is serving in that company.

As i said before i do get the visual beauty part. But i don't think as it is right now people won't understand that you are still working for the same company in a different position. It is still very clear.
