This will make it easier to remember which value you are currently assigning. In complex scenarios, you can have multiple value assignments in a single assign widget and the variable names could be quite long and legible if they all start with LoooooooooooongFormName.List.Current.LoooongishEntityName
When editing parameters, the editor's title should reflect the value currently being edited instead of the name of the element that has said parameters.
I agree with you, as I think it would make assignments less error-prone by giving an immediate visual indication of what's being assigned.
