Details

Validates uploaded files by comparing their declared MIME type with their actual file signature. It also performs advanced PDF security scanning to detect JavaScript, executable actions, embedded files, Rich Media, XFA, and webshell-like content. Supported PDF threats can be neutralized before storage or processing.

File Security Scanner is an OutSystems extension designed to improve upload security in Reactive applications.

The extension provides server actions to:

Validate that an uploaded file matches its declared MIME type.
Detect disguised files with misleading extensions or content types.
Identify common signatures such as PDF, PNG, JPEG, and ZIP.
Inspect PDFs for JavaScript and automatic actions.
Detect launch, submit, import, and remote actions.
Detect embedded files, Rich Media, and XFA forms.
Detect ASPX and webshell-like indicators.
Return a consistent JSON result for every scan.
Sanitize supported PDF content using length-preserving neutralization.

Available actions include ScanPdf, IsSafePdf, and SanitizePdf.

General files receive MIME type and signature validation. Advanced embedded-content scanning and sanitization currently apply to PDFs.

This extension should complement antivirus, malware sandboxing, and enterprise Content Disarm and Reconstruction solutions rather than replace them.
