How do you mirror production data in your testing environment

Hi,

I'm wondering how others mirror their production data in their testing environment. Currently we have a very tedious process for this in place and I was wondering if there are better solutions out there, so I'm curious what you guys are doing. In this specific case we have a database application which holds data and we want to mirror the data in this application from our production environment to our testing environment.

Hi Chris,

You can try with below forge component for data migration from one environment to other.

Thanks

Thanks, but this is not an answer my question... I'm just wondering what other people do in these instances. I'm not trying to find something new necessarily for me, but I'm just curious about outside perspectives. So let me ask you this again, what do you do in these instances?

Be aware that the suggested forge component is a commercial product that you need to pay for in order to be able to use it.

@Chris van den Heuvel detailed documentation on the migration process is available at https://success.outsystems.com/documentation/how_to_guides/data/data_migration_from_production_to_non_production_environment/. You can follow this guide for manual migration or opt for a commercial tool to simplify the process. Personally, I have used commercial tools for these activities.

Thanks, I'm not looking for a documentation link though, I can find that myself as well. You mentioned having used commercial tools for these activities, I'm curious about those. Could you name the tools you've used and say something about your experience with them?

I've used the DMM tool (https://www.infosistema.com/data-migration-manager/) in two projects, and it works well. However, since this is a community forum, I avoided explicitly mentioning it in my previous response to avoid sounding promotional.

Thank you for the response. It's not promotional if it's just you sharing your positive experience right. What in your opinion makes it work well? I have no experience with this component whatsoever, so I'm curious to what makes you say it works well. Can you maybe give an example?
