Outsystems Server
Application Type
Traditional Web, Mobile, Reactive

Hello everyone,I want to clarify some doubt's regarding the Outsystems database which I mentioned below, could any one please help me on this.

  1.  On which server is the Outsystem database hosted?
  2. Who has access to view the Outsystem database? Is it limited to the database admin, or can we create specific users with access to view the database? This question is not for the personal environment.

Thanks,

Rakhi

Hi Rakki.

Your question is too vague. Actually it depends on the installation you have done.

You have two options: cloud or on-premises. Which is your case?

In cloud installations, there's less option to configure the database than on-premises installations.

In my opinion, regardless the infrastructure architecture (cloud or on-premises) and regardless the environment (development, quality, production, etc.), the database server should be always in a dedicated machine and not in the same as the OutSystems Platform Server.

You can also check some OutSystems documentation to help you:

Miguel

Hi Miguel ,

In my knowledge it is cloud installation. But can you clarify me what kind of limitation of configuration are for this installation and what is on-premises in short.

Thanks,

Rakhi

Hello Rakhi,

You can find a detailed comparison between cloud and on premise installations here

https://www.outsystems.com/tech-hub/cloud-dev/cloud-vs-on-prem/#on-premises-infrastructure

The primary benefit with on premise is getting more control, in all other respects most of the times cloud is better.

Then there is hybrid option available too which could be tailored based on organization needs.

Hope it helps!

As mentioned by @Miguel Guerreiro, there are two possible options: on-premise or on-cloud. For cloud deployments managed by OutSystems, you can refer to this article (https://success.outsystems.com/documentation/11/managing_outsystems_platform_and_application_lifecycle/access_the_database_of_your_outsystems_cloud/)  to request database access. For on-premise deployments, you can contact the database administrator for access.
