The latest Forge release (in early May) had already introduced component tagging and enabled searching for components with a given tag or text/description directly on the Forge page.

The next (obvious) step was to reach out to the power of metadata™ and enable searching for components compatible with a specific:
  - platform version;
  - platform stack and;
  - database.

This new filter was created to make it even easier and faster to find components that match your needs. It is only available for logged in users - which have their filter settings persisted across sessions to speed up future searches.
