Highchart License
Question
Application Type
Mobile
Service Studio Version
11.55.39 (Build 64352)

Dear everyone,

I am currently working on an application where I need to implement two complex charts (a line chart and a stacked column chart) - Custom scroll behavior, use some events in Highchart, complex tooltip... To achieve this, I have manually imported several Highcharts JS files into the application.

However, I recently realized that manually importing Highcharts libraries may require a separate commercial license when running in Production.

I would like to clarify the following points:

  1. If the manually imported Highcharts JS files are of the same version that is bundled with OutSystems (e.g., Highcharts 6.1.4 in OutSystems 11), will this still be covered by the OutSystems license, or would I still need to purchase a separate license from Highsoft?

  2. If manual import is not covered, can I achieve the same complex chart requirements by only using the OutSystems Charts widgets (Charts API)? Specifically, can the OutSystems chart components be customized to expose and configure all the underlying Highcharts options (for example advanced options for line charts or stacked bar/column charts)?

This clarification will help us determine the correct approach and ensure we remain compliant with licensing terms while still delivering the required chart functionality.

Thank you for your support.

Hello.

This answer from 2017 was given again in 2024 so I assume it is still valid.

The best way of knowing is by asking your account manager.
