Try out Mentor in ODC Studio today

Mentor is now available in ODC Studio (other than in Personal Editions, those will be updated on the next few weeks).

Open any existing web app, click "Mentor" in the top right corner, and describe what you want to change. Mentor reads your app's code, understands the patterns already in place, and applies full-stack changes across UI, logic, and data.

This is an early release, so there are still some limitations:

  • Available for web apps only
  • Cannot yet reference new public elements from libraries or other apps
  • Not yet aware of your current view or selected element
  • Some changes may be slow, fail, or produce incorrect results

But the possibilities are already endless. You can use Mentor to:

  • Ask any question about the application
  • Learn about the OutSystems language
  • Request any change to the UI, logic, or data
  • Explore alternatives and discuss implementation options
  • Refactor code to follow best practices
  • Discover and fix problems in your apps

By compounding your knowledge and capabilities with those of AI, you’ll be able to automate work and be dramatically more productive, saving hours of manual effort.

Learn more about modifying an app with AI in ODC Studio.

We're continuously shipping improvements, and your input shapes what comes next. Select Give feedback inside Mentor whenever something doesn't work, or you have an idea.

Additionally, we would also love to have your opinion about Mentor in ODC Studio in a reply to this post.

Your feedback and energy is what drives us to keep evolving OutSystems.

Thank you.

I've been exploring the chat mentor functionality and the experience has been solid so far.

It’s already quite capable, even though you can still tell it’s a work in progress. That said, the potential is definitely there.

As is typical with AI, getting the usage settings right is crucial. I’m very excited to see where this goes.

I tried yesterday mentor and I like it, but its lacking some things on my vision.

  • Manage session limit ( check current context window / check % on my usage session, also be careful on showing the % number to the user, make it only show at 90%+ so user dont get anxious)
  • Hability to create skills for UI frontend from .md files
  • Hability to import screenshots for context ( this might have token issue for you guys but put a max of 5 screenshots per session or wtv )
  • Also I didn't like the way you show to the user / dev the Mentor, being on top right just the mentor and the icon, doesn't feel UI friendly, ppl won't even notice.
    How is today

    My idea

and pls increase the limit for personal env it's too dam low rn for testing and creating stuff for MVP's

I’ve been using it lately and the experience is amazing! Two quick suggestions:

  1. Attachments: It sometimes asks for screenshots, but there’s currently no option to upload images for better context.

  2. Stop Execution: Like other AI agents, we need a "Stop" button once a prompt is sent to cancel the generation mid-way.

Impressive progress so far, I'm excited to see how this evolves in future releases

Hi Abdelrahman,

Thank you ver much for your feedback.
Yes, attachments is indeed a great idea.
As for the "Stop" button, you should see that in the next version of ODC Studio (1.7.5).

Amazing!

I've been waiting for it for a long time. It will be very useful for us in the AI era.

Also, I have a idea about whether AI could further support the migration of legacy code to Outsystems in the features.

Exciting to see Mentor in ODC Studio. This is a big step toward AI-assisted development. Tried it out and the ability to understand existing app patterns and suggest full-stack changes is impressive. Looking forward to improvements as it evolves....

Hi all,

I'm happy to share that it's now also possible to use Mentor in Agentic apps and Libraries (in Beta).

You just need to turn on the checkbox in ODC Studio Preferences:

This is amazing......

I explored it and used for some tasks.  Till now result is wonderful, it helped me to create complex structures, some logic and UI also.
