A best way to start with OutSystems is to jump into the guided learning paths and build small apps as you learn. The platform makes much more sense once you start using it hands-on.

I’d recommend starting with the beginner Reactive Web or ODC courses, then creating a simple app like a task tracker or employee management app. The community forums and Forge components are also super helpful when you get stuck.

Don’t try to learn everything at once, focus on the basics first (data, screens, logic, APIs), and the rest will come naturally. Good luck!

Along with what Manish said, after following the guided path, I would recommend attempting the Associate Reactive Developer certification. It really puts what you’ve learned to the test. After that, I would suggest moving on to the next certifications, starting with the Web Developer Specialist.

Most of these certifications come with detailed exam sheets that explain how the exam is structured. These can serve as a clear roadmap or learning ladder to help you master the topics. For example, when preparing for the Associate Reactive exam, the detailed sheet groups relevant documentation and includes videos related to each topic. Think of it as a complete learning hub that brings everything together, so you don’t need to search for additional resources elsewhere.

You can follow this approach for all the certifications, and trust me, the amount of knowledge you gain from it is significant. Also, make sure to practice everything hands-on so you gain real experience alongside theory.

In this way, you are essentially hitting three birds with one stone: gaining knowledge, building hands-on experience, and earning certifications at the end.
