I new in Outsystems, what is the 2 certification can i target to master development , then become architect?
Hello @Ahmed Tharwat,
Well, my personal opinion is as follows:
For the development phase, it mainly includes these certifications: Web Developer Specialist (O11 and ODC), Mobile Developer Specialist, and Front-End Specialist (Include the newly added Agentic AI Specialist). In my opinion, these are primarily development-focused because they involve best practices, writing scalable code, maintaining decent performance, and ensuring proper security standards.
This naturally leads to the Security Specialist certification, which, in my opinion, is a mix of both development and security configuration. It covers role management and gives you a solid understanding of how to programmatically grant and revoke roles. On the other hand, it also introduces several security best practices, including concepts related to OWASP and HIPAA.
The only certification path that is less code-oriented is Architecture. It focuses more on the overall infrastructure, application architecture, and how best practices are applied across the platform.
So, to answer your question, it can definitely take more than two certifications to truly reach the level of being considered a “master.” For example, even if you master the backend side, you still have mobile and front-end areas to cover, and vice versa. Additionally, Architecture itself requires a strong understanding of how the code is actually implemented.
My advice would be to first acquire the Associate Reactive certification. After that, start your journey with the Web Specialist path and understand how the concepts learned in Associate Reactive can be enhanced further. Then move on to Mobile, Front-End, and finally Security. After all of that, try pursuing the Architecture certification.
By the time you reach that stage, I’m pretty sure you’ll already have a solid understanding of most of the topics, and the Architecture exam should feel much easier for you.
Hi @Ahmed Tharwat
What @Sherif El-Habibi says and more.
First get your Associate Reactive certification or your ODC associate certification, based on the platform you start working with. Then practice practice practice to gain experience. Based on your experience, you have a better understanding for the Web Developer specialist (and Mobile) specialist. After that you can specialise in FrontEnd, Security, or Architecture.
You need to know how OutSystems really works and walk to walls to be experienced, or a master as you call it.
When you want to become an expert, you need to know it all. Not by getting the certificate, but by really knowing based on your experience.
Best regards.
