The plugin.xml for this plugin(Cloud Messaging Plugin (Firebase)) still installs Firebase via CocoaPods with SPM explicitly disabled:

Firebase has announced it will stop publishing new Apple SDK versions to CocoaPods from October 2026. I couldn't find anywhere if outsystems has adressed this already. We've opened a GitHub issue on the plugin repo asking about a possible SPM migration, but wanted to check with the community too:

  • Has anyone heard/read anything from OutSystems about a planned CocoaPods → SPM migration for this and other plugins?
  • Is there an alternative plugin/approach for Firebase Cloud Messaging on O11 that already uses SPM?

Any info or shared experience would be much appreciated.

Hi Tiemen,

Haven't seen anything official from OutSystems yet, but at least nothing should break right away. According to Firebase, v12 and earlier will stay installable and working through CocoaPods, they just won't publish new versions there after October 2026:

So current builds should keep working. The real impact is not getting new FirebaseMessaging updates until the plugin moves to SPM. I'd keep an eye on the GitHub issue you opened for the official answer.
