How can I bring in 'live data' and view it in my application?
I am looking for moonrise and set, tides high and low, sunrise and set, windspeed and temperature.
I believe that they would each share the same method of creation.

Are you looking to integrate data provided by a 3rd party? If so, and if the providers of that kind of data expose webservices, you can get the data from them using web references. Take a look at:
