OutSystems Platform 9 Amsterdam delivers a new capability that improves Internationalization (i18n) support in the apps you build. This means you can now use the full Unicode character set, including Arabic, Cyrillic, Hiragana, Katakana, Thai, and all other supported sets - emoji included of course!
So far, you got great i18n support by using the “translations” capability of OutSystems Platform. However, many of our customers also need to build an app specifically tailored to a country or language.
Translations work great, but why do that when you want to write Cyrillic in the first place?
How will these improvements help you?
In Platform 9 Amsterdam, you can now write and freely edit unicode text in your applications, including in expressions, labels and descriptions - no translations needed! The following screenshot shows where you can now use Unicode text.
How do you use it?
Just install the latest Platform 9 Amsterdam release, and you’re all set!

Check out this video, it can help you get around: Unicode-support improvements (3 minutes).
Note: although apps can now have Unicode content, objects’ names in a module do not support Unicode, e.g., Screens, Entities, Flows, etc..
