[SortRecordList] remove duplicates question

So I have a list of records where the only record is a User record I called PI. I am trying to do a sort on this list where I have an input list, an output list and then for the sort I am doing "User.id". I keep getting the error "Could not find field to sort System.Collections.Generic.List`1[System.String]". Any suggestions to fix this?
