[ImageGallery] How to bind a local variable to a text box?

Question

I want to have an input text box on a screen bound to a local variable. I want to type something into that text box, populate the local variable and on a button click pass that local variable as input to a preparation on another screen. I thought I had done this but the value is "" when I click the button even though I typed data into the text box.
