Isn't this functionality only for Mobile apps (native)?

This component and the associated documentation are for the OS 10 native mobile solutions.

The concepts and patterns can be applied anywhere using the HTML5 basket of technologies or the OS 9 off-line suggested solution.

The fundamental technical issues are being addressed seamlessly by the underlying framework that has been put in place on OS 10 which empowers the solutioneer to focus on addressing the age old problem of synchronising data.

This component is a useful practical starting point to see how some of the challenges can be solved on OS 10.

Hi Joeram,

I'm curious about your use case. Would you care to provide some more details? :)

Hi..It might be possible to attach an IR LED transmitting a pulsing code of the sort used in TV remotes. A detector that looks down a tube to limit it's view to athletes at the finish line might detect the individual's code at the right time. Sunlight may blind such a system.
A Pi camera plus some feature scanning might give you 10 frames per second (fps) or 0.1 seconds timing resolution. Is that good enough? The camera can run at 90 fps but processing the image to ID the athlete may not keep up with that.
