Recover Lifetime Password

Hi everyone, wonder why there is no "forgot password" option when login to lifetime.

Hi Johanes,

I don't think that option is available.

You can change your password, as a known user, that's all.

If you forgot your password you must contact the Administrator of your environment and ask him to generate a new one.

Hi Helder, thanks for your reply.

That is the solution for now, developers always need to contact administrator to change their password or generate a new one.

I don't think this is common practice, what is the purpose for not providing "Forgot Password" ?

Hi Johanes,

Having a "forgot password" option would require you to have your own SMTP server configured in the LifeTime environment (and I'm willing to bet most customers don't bother with that). And this could be an unwanted feature for some security sensitive organizations anyway.

But you can easily build a portal allowing your IT users to reset their password, according to your own requirements. Take a look at the LifeTime Services API, namely the UserManagementService.

PS: you can create an idea here with this suggestion.

Do not forget that the new Lifetime already allows External Authentication provider:

https://www.outsystems.com/help/lifetime/9.0/User_Stories/Use_an_External_Authentication_Provider.htm

You can easily have AD Groups, connect them to Lifetime and use your domain password to login.

Then everything is integrated.
