Sequential attributes

Sequential attributes

Please explain me about sequential attributes with examples.

Hi,

Are you referring to the AutoNumber property in Outsystems?

By default, the primary keys of Entities you create in Outsystems will be set to AutoNumber. This means that the Id will automatically be incremented by 1 every time you insert a new record into the database.

You can check more information in https://www.outsystems.com/help/SErviceStudio/9.0/Using_Data/Creating_a_Sequencial_Attribute.htm

So, Primary key of an entity and sequential attribute are one and the same?

Hi,

In Outsystems, by default, the primary key will be a sequential attribute.

However, you can set the primary key to not be a sequential number (i.e. not AutoNumber) and set another Integer or Long Integer attribute as AutoNumber, as long as there is only one such attribute in the entity.

So, to answer your question, in most cases, the primary key is a sequential attribute but it is not required to be one.

Cheers,

João
