User authentication for external application

Hey there guys,

We have been implementing internal applications for many years now, using Outsystems Internal Authentication, but now we are trying to expose an application to extranet users.

We created the users in Outsystems Users applications, but they can't log in. We need to log in with an internal AD user first and then log out and log in with the new non-AD external user.

I was thinking of:

  1. Create an application user in AD and specify that user as "Run As" user in order to pass IIS authentication.
  2. Use new Outsystems User as the user logged in and using the app.

Has anyone tried this? And if yes, did it work? How do I set up the new AD user?

Why not create a specific login page for the extranet users? When they register, you create a record in the OutSystems user table.

When a users logs in, OutSystems fill first thy to authenticate with AD but it the users doesn't exist there, it will fall back to the internal users. And since you created the user/password, it should work

Solution

Thanks, Kurt,

We solved the issue by creating a "portal" application that did not have Windows Integrated Authentication. In that application, we implemented the user logging in and the reset password functionality. Then the portal redirects to the DMZ application.
