Translate Multilanguage or web block custom ?
Question

Hello everyone, good morning,

I have a question I am changing the language of the RichWidgets \ List_Counter component so that it appears in Spanish and not in English

From

To

I have achieved this in the following ways:

1. Adding the Multilingual Locales the language "es-Es" and in the login action changing the setCurrentLocale by "es-ES"

2. Creating a WebBlock that allows me to change the language to Spanish taking into account that the webblock would need more maintenance in case of adding a new language

I have a couple of questions

1. Which one would be more advisable to use?

2. Does the translation of Multilingual Locales consume performance for the applications?

Thank you very much for your help. Regards

Solution

Hi Cristian,

I'd say it depends if your application will use other language than Spanish or just Spanish.

If your application is only available in Spanish, you want to use option 1.

If your application is going to support multiple languages, you want to choose option 2 (more detail here).

I have worked with Multilingual several times and never had impact on performance nor have read any concern about performance on this topic, so I don't think it's something you need to worry about.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

João
