Is it possible to get hired knowing ONLY Outsystems?
Question

Hi all,

I have started to learn Outsystems on my own for several weeks now. The goal is to get certified and get hired. However, looking at the job requirements for Junior Outsystems Developer, I have sadly discovered that other programming languages (C#, Java, etc) are required as well.

Is there any chance to get hired knowing only the Outsystems platform? I would really like to know if it makes sense to continue on this road or if I'm just wasting my time.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I hope you are safe and doing well!!!

Technically if you are strong then easily you will get job. Just go through guided path and acquire knowledge, develop  your skills, get certified and try for interviews. And the Outsystems is wonderful platform to make better career but at the end knowledge is matter the most. All the best!!!!!!!

Kind Regards,

Hi,

Yes, it's possible but not easy. There are more openings for medium and senior levels, and the beginner ones usually prefer a background in IT with programming knowledge.
To make your path easy you should learn also some SQL, CSS, and JS. This should help you get a new job.

You can be a good OutSystems Developer without the need to use C# and definitely Java.

OutSystems have a Java version of the platform up to version 10. But the number of companies that still have version ten will be limited and get less and less.

In our company we hired more than enough OutSystems developers without any other development experience.

That said as and OutSystems developer it is a plus if you understand CSS, Javascript and HTML for front end, as well C# if you ever need to create or change an OutSystems extension.
