Hi,

Don't know, but maybe if you publish your mobile app as a PWA it is possible?

Easy to try out.

Regards,

Daniel

I guess that is no longer an OutSystems related question. If you have the OutSystems mobile app generated to an Android .apk file then you need to follow instructions that I guess exist for Google Chromecast to install the .apk file on it.

Those instructions should be the same irrespectively if the android app is generated by OutSystems or build with another Android developmment platform.

I can not keep in mind what I don't know, and just gave my 2 cents on your question.

I have nothing more to add, it doesn't seem to be an OutSystems related problem.

You just don't know how to get the APK file on your google chromecast, for that you need to check google chromecast documentation.

There are no OutSystems instructions on how to do this.

Now Reporting Your Reply To the [Director Of Support and Quality].

that wasn't a good way to support nor speak to anyone.

you need to be more professional :(

best of luck.

Excuse me, what is not appropriate in my reply?

Editing your previous reply and deleting my new reply will NOT change anything, the report has a wayback archive to your reply and my reply will be soon pinned from the platform it self.

I did not delete any reply, don't make accusations that you cannot back up!

I edited the 10 cents to 2 cents, as I figured out that that is the saying "giving my 2 cents" not "giving my 10 cents". Basically it means I give my opinion without being asked, nothing to be offended off.

Most likely, you got moderated by another MVP and you received a private message explaining to you the code of conduct on the forum. The moderator has your reply removed and as my reply (with again no wrongdoing) was under your reply it is also no longer visible. Moderators and OutSystems can still see the deleted conversation and read them and decide to take action upon.

What I did is asked other forum moderators, like me, to step in and review the discussion. I also asked OutSystems community manager (not the director of a department you made up that does not exist) to review if there is anything I wrote that is against the code of conduct.

Feel free to contact me in private message, if you feel the need to discuss this.

I don't think a public discussion here is the place to continue the conversation.

Just to be clear because your reply (against code of conduct) was deleted by another moderator, my reply see below here was deleted. I have no problem sharing it again. There is nothing wrong or bad in what I write.

Hi k sawalha,

If I understand your question correctly, you would like to see the Android phone screen on a tv (via chrome cast). For this you need to follow the following steps: https://www.androidcentral.com/how-mirror-your-android-screen-chromecast

This is indeed not something related to OutSystems, as Daniel also described.

If I misunderstood your question and you would like to cast only a small part of your OutSystems app via Chromecast (similar to the way YouTube works, where only the video is streamed), could you explain in more detail, preferably with a picture, what you want to achieve?

Kind regards,

Remco

Yes, you understood correctly šŸ‘

I need to cast a video from the app  so it is a part from the app itself.

Ah, for this there are two options.

  1. Use a third party video platform (like YouTube or Vimeo), they have Chromecast built into their video player.
  2. Build your own videoplayer with chromecast in native code and import this into OutSystems.

My honest opinion is to go for option nr 1. Option nr 2 will give you problems, because there are differences between Android versions and I don’t know how many different versions you need to maintain in the future.

Kind regards,

Remco

Hi K,

To cast the content of your Android screen to Chromecast, there's plenty of advise you can find online. That's probably what you want. If you have an app that streams to Chromecast (like the Netflix app or the YouTube app), you need to create a wrapper for a Cordova Chromecast plugin, as there's nothing in the Forge. Google for "cordova plugin chromecast" (without the quotes) to find some, and see here for how to create the wrapper.
