I think Outsystems overwrite my documents and I have no idea how to recover my files
Question

I created an app with the name easymarketing, and it happened that I have a file on my computer with the same name with all the important documents in that file. This morning, all my files in easymarketing were missing, and Outsystems files replaced them. I removed the outsystems to reboot my computer, but all my files are still not there. I think there is some overwriting to cause this, or is there a hacker? and I am so helpless now.

Yes, well, I'm not sure whether Service Studio ever moves or deletes files inside its program folder, but the fact is, you installed it in the wrong place, and I'm not surprised strange things happen in that case. I'd advise you to uninstall Service Studio, and then reinstall it using the standard folder.

Thank you, I found recovery software, everything is filed into a document called .TEMP_OLD under .TEMP_ ServiceStudio_11_Stable

Hi Tao,

Without knowning the exact cause of what has happened, that folder looks very suspicious. "uninst" looks like an executable, and "Service Studio" a folder that contains Service Studio. I would not expect those files in a folder called "01-Easymarketing", but instead in the Windows "Program Files" folder (on the C: drive - my installation path is C:\Program Files\OutSystems\Development Environment 11, which contains the files you are showing). So my best guess is that you tried to install Service Studio, but selected the wrong folder, and this caused all of your problems.

Is there any way back, please, maybe I installed it in that file three days ago, but the files were there yesterday.

I don't think it is caused by my installation.

I can't be sure of course whether your files disappearing has anything to do with the fact you installed Service Studio in a completely wrong folder. But it's a fact you have Service Studio installed in a completely wrong folder.

As for a "way back" - check your Windows Recycle Bin, the files might be in there. If not, there's no way to get them back, sorry.

I mean, I did install outsystem in Local disk D instead of Local Disk C, but the files in easymarketing were there for two days. It just got missed this morning. I checked everywhere and I can't find it until I searched the file names inside that file, it was found inside temp?? or something of the OutSystems

I have no idea why it cannot be installed in Local Disk D and why it will cause a problem.

It can be installed on the Local Disk D, but just create an OutSystems folder and put it in that one. You have installed it in a folder you also use for documents, which is bad.

I reinstalled it, but all my documents cannot be restored. I feel so depressed now.

My sincere apologies. Remember to always back-up your documents! And did you check the Recycle Bin?

Hi,

I am not able to understand your issue completely yet I would like to tell that when you created a project in OutSystems then it get create in cloud (until its not on premise, in on-premise also on server), so basically it has nothing to do with your local machine. Until you download the application as oml or osp then it will not be on local machine.

regards.

Vikas: read my reply above. This is likely an installation of Service Studio gone wrong.
